Getting paid on time matters to freelancers, and we want to make sure both businesses and freelancers clearly understand how the Gigable payment process works.

In practice, payments move quickly once they are processed. Around 86% of freelancer payouts arrive the same day or the following day after Gigable receives the funds.

However, payments involve several steps, and timing can depend on both the business payment schedule and normal banking processing times.

Below is a simple explanation of how the process works.

1. Payment Approval: When Businesses Process Payments

Once a freelancer completes a gig, the business confirms the work and approves the payment within the Gigable platform.

Many businesses process payments once or twice per week, which is standard practice across industries such as hospitality, logistics, and service sectors.

👉 Payment timing is often listed in the gig description, so freelancers know when to expect payment.

Once the business has approved the gig, the payment is processed using one of the available payment methods on Gigable.

2. Payment Methods

Around 75% of businesses use Gigable’s payment method, which works through a standard banking lodgement process.
The remaining businesses choose to pay by card using Stripe.

Gigable’s Payment (Bank lodgement-based payment

After approving the payment, the business makes a lodgement to Gigable as part of their payment process.

In most cases, the transfer arrives the same day or the following day, depending on:

  • bank processing times

  • payment cut-off times

  • when the lodgement is made during the day

For example, if a business lodges funds after bank cut-off times (e.g. after 2pm), the transfer may only reach Gigable on the next banking day.

Once Gigable receives the funds, the payout process begins through the banking system to the freelancer’s account.

Gigable’s system does not hold payments, and all transfers operate within normal banking processing parameters and clearing cycles.

Card Payment via Stripe

Some businesses choose to process payments by card using Stripe, our payment processing partner.

Payments are processed through Stripe and the card network, which handle transaction verification and settlement.

Once a business card payment is successfully processed, payouts typically arrive within 3–5 business days.

3. How Long Payments Usually Take

Based on payout data:

  • 51% of freelancer payouts arrive the same day

  • 32% arrive the next day

  • 14% arrive within 2 days

  • 3% arrive within 3 days

Overall:

Around 86% of payouts are completed on the same day or the following day after Gigable receives the funds.

The remaining payments are typically settled within 2–5 days, depending on the payment method used, with longer timelines usually caused by:

  • bank clearing cycles or card network settlement cycles

  • bank cut-off times

  • weekends or public holidays

  • occasional security or compliance checks outside Gigable’s control

4. Why Payment Timing Can Vary

In some cases, transfers may take slightly longer than expected.

The most common reasons include:

  • incorrect or outdated IBAN or BIC details

  • recently updated bank accounts

  • additional bank or card verification checks
